Young Community Leaders Promotion
The main objective of the project was promoting and supporting young people to participate in decision - making processes for the benefit of further democratic and economic development of their local communities. By doing this, we are giving role models for all young people who would like to be actively engaged in community life but who do not know how to do so. Furthermore, we are raising awareness about the possibilities of their having influence on solving society problems in a democratic way. This way we contributed to the long-term development of democracy via transparency and individual initiative in reaction to problem identification and problem resolution in local communities.
The project was implemented in seven towns in Serbia: Subotica, Vrsac, Valjevo, Zajecar, Novi Pazar, Prokuplje and Vranje. 175 young leaders from the age 18 to 27 participated in Action Plans development for the resolution of local problems.
Our activities included a selection of young leaders, sets of 2-day seminars in each town, presentation of developed Action Plans via panel discussions and TV debates. In the end, the team leaders all together, with a CDS representative, presented their work at a press conference held in the Media Center in Belgrade, where the brochure "Collection of Action Plans" was presented and distributed.
Out of 30 developed Action Plans, 17 met the requirements set at the beginning of the project implementation. They were presented in public via panel discussions and at local TV stations. Most of the Action Plans were implemented in local communities. In the end of the project, a press conference tok place in Belgrade Media Center.
