Monitoring of the Municipality Performance – Phase One

CDS with the support of CIDA is starting the implementation of the project “Monitoring of the Municipality Performance – Phase One”. With this pilot project we are aiming to raise awareness among citizens and local officials about necessity to measure performance of municipal services, creating tool from which whole community will benefit. 

The project goal is built partnership between local self-governances, media and NGOs via process of monitoring municipality performance for the benefit of citizens in local communities contributing to the development of democracy, rule of law and human rights protection.

Specific project goal are:

1. Creation of the monitoring plan as a tool that can be used by CDS, municipality services, and other NGOs for the assessment and evaluation of the municipality performance, transparency and accountability;

2. Raised awareness of citizens that local self government is functioning as a service for the benefit of citizens and that its performance can be measured in order that citizens can think thoroughly when electing new officials who will be more transparent, user friendly with developed long term strategies for local communities development.;

3. Finally, this first phase of project should raise awareness that citizens can and must participate in local decision processes in different ways; this one is showing the civil sector effort to do so. 

CDS signed Memorandums on Cooperation with following Belgrade Municipalities: Vozdovac, Vracar and Palilula.
