Promotion of the Ombudsman Institution in Toplica County
CDS in cooperation with Toplica Center for Democracy and Human Rights realized this project in order to educate and to point out to the citizens of Toplica County the importance of establishing an institution of Ombudsman at a local level. Besides public debates on the local TV station "TV Grk", we organized a set of educational seminars for local officials, NGO and media representatives, as well as political party activists. Leaflets about this initiative were also made and distributed. The idea was to raise public interest about the possibilities and advantages that the new law on local self-government offers. One of it is introducing the institution of local Ombudsman. Establishing it is not obligatory. It is an optional mechanism that will provide citizens with help.
The project activities included the following:
- Promotional campaign consisting of:
TV debates at the local TV station "TV GRK" about the importance of the institution of Ombudsman and its inauguration at a local level.
Distribution of leaflets about the importance of the inauguration of the institution of Ombudsman.
- Set of educational seminars and workshops for the local officials, NGO and media representatives as well as political party activists. Seminars took place in four towns in Toplica County: Prokuplje, Zitoradja, Blace and Kursumlija.
